Important: Please note that the prerequisite/gating functionality is only available in Gradarius when you use the platform either as a standalone or with a full course LMS integration rather than by assignment. When a Gradarius course is bound to LMS by assignment, prerequisites become unavailable in Gradarius and should be set up in LMS.
Prerequisites allow you to require your students to engage with the material before moving on. They do not force students to attain a particular score, but only that they submit solutions for either the prerequisite exercises or all the exercises in a prerequisite assignment. This is especially useful for either Tutorial assignments, or for combining Tutor mode and Solo mode in the same assignment.
To set an assignment as a prerequisite to another assignment,
- In the assignment configuration menu, use the Advanced slider, and scroll to the bottom of the menu.
- Click the select button next to "Prerequisite", and then select all of the boxes that you want to be prerequisites for the current assignment. In this example, students will need to attempt all the problems in Tutorials (with a score of 100) before unlocking the current assignment:
- When you publish the assignment, students will have to attempt all of the problems in the assignments you've chosen. They can move to the next assignment regardless of the score.
To set an exercise as a prerequisite for other exercises in the same assignment:
- In the assignment, find the problem for which you would like to set prerequisites. Click the three-dot (ellipses) menu, and select 'Configure'.
- Use the Advanced slider, and click the Prerequisites button.
- Select the exercises that need to be solved with (a certain score) before the students make an attempt to the exercise that is being configured. You can also set a total score for multiple prerequisite exercises. Click on "Select" next to "Prerequisites" to start.
