If Gradarius is not grading a student’s solution properly, there might be various reasons. If none of the following is a reason for the improper grading, please make sure to create a ticket here for that calculus problem. The issue might be more complicated and needs to be taken care of by the experts.

  1. In the reference solutions, essential steps may not have been chosen properly. The requirement for the essential steps is that they should not be selected as an expression that is algebraically equivalent to an expression from the problem statement or to an expression in the final answer.

How to fix it:

In such problems, you can either remove the improper essential step/s (see 2. below) or change the grading strategy of the problem from “Require essential steps” to either “Allow just final answer” or “Gradarius choice”, which will allow students with the correct answer to receive 100/100 and those with correct steps but an incorrect final answer to get partial credits.

To change the grading strategy of a single exercise in an assignment please see this article.

  1. The existing reference solution has a mistake:

How to fix it: please see this article to edit or use the "Report an issue" link to ask the Gradarius team to fix the solution.

  1. The student’s solution that you believe is correct might be different than existing reference solutions.

How to fix it: Clone and add the student’s solution as a reference solution as described in this article

REMARK: After any changes are made to reference solutions of an exercise, please make sure to click on “Regrade” from the options menu located in the upper right corner after selecting the exercise.
